Favorable seasons for Pelling trip:

Summer and winter seasons are the most favorable seasons of Pelling for travelers. While other visitors choose to adventure during the monsoon. Here, tourist spots are usually open throughout the years. The peak seasons are September, October, December, March, and April.  

Summer season

The best time for summer is a suitable period from March to May because of a lower temp. of 7℃ and the highest temp. of 28℃. During this time, travelers can get a little bit of cold temp.   

Monsoon season

The rainy season starts from June and September. During this period, some tourists come here to get pleasure from the waterfalls. Visitors are more concerned about “frequent” and “heavy” rainfalls causing landslides & road blockage. The precipitation of heavy rainfalls is around 735 mm.     

Winter season

The cold season usually starts in December month up to February month. The temperature at this moment is too chilling and moves around between 4℃ and 14℃. Travelers can carry warm clothes to keep body heat. They may take medicines, or Ayurvedic remedies, “Chyawanprash” or honey to boost immunity.

Transportation modes are different through buses, flights, or railways up to New Jalpaiguri. From Siliguri Bus Depot or New Jalpaiguri Govt. buses, shared cars, or private cars are available to arrive here.  

Bus routes

Non-AC & AC Siliguri bound Tourist buses are available in Kolkata, Esplanade. Travelers may follow the online bus booking system through the website Goibibo. The ticket prices of non-AC buses are cheaper than the AC buses.    

Flight modes 

Nowadays, travellers can easily reach Sikkim from the Dum-dum airport in Kolkata by flight mode. The nearest aero station of West Sikkim is “Pakyong Airport” and “Bagdogra Airport. In such cases, the visitors have to remember that 4 hours and 2 min time may be taken from Pakyong airport to Pelling while 4 hours and 46 min time consuming for Bagdogra airport. Railways  

The visitors may choose the railways from the Howrah station up to New Jalpaiguri station by Kamrup or Shatabdi Express, Kolkata station for Haldibari or Kaziranga Express, and Sealdah station for Kanchan Kanya or Uttar Banga Express. Apart from this, it could be suggested that people can book their online train tickets through the irctc website after online registration.          

Travelling cost:

The travelling cost per head might be 8k to 10k on average for the 4 to 5 days tour in West Sikkim from Kolkata. Therefore, the expense of money for visiting Pelling is estimated depending on the mode of transportation, seasons, range of hotel category, number of visitors in a group, types of consuming foods, cost of buying products, number of retailing shops, and financial values of the country.

Itinerary for Pelling:

        Day 1:  

          • Arriving at the Siliguri Junction in the early morning

         • Booking the Government bus of West Sikkim or sharing or rental car
Sharing cars firstly go to the Jorethang town and then another car goes to Pelling in the evening     time
Searching hotel rooms on an affordable budget and booking a private car for the next day. 


         Day 2: 


After breakfast, at 7:00 am the travellers may visit the nearest sightseen of Pelling such as Rimbi River, Rimbi waterfalls, Orange Garden, Kanchanjungha waterfalls, Wishing Lake or Khechiperi Lake 

 Returning to the Hotel during lunchtime at 12:00 pm

• After the lunch break, around 1:00 pm go to the Swami Padmasova Monastery, a glass bridge, suspended and Asia's second-highest Singshore bridge

• Swami Padmasova Monastery usually closes at 4:00 pm


Day 3:

 

• During sunrise with a clear sky, watching the Kanchenjunga seems like a sleeping Buddha

• After taking breakfast around 7:00 pm, leave the Hotel room

• Visiting the nearest and old Pemayangtse Monastery of Pelling

• Departure from the Pelling town and go towards the Ravangla

• After reaching Ravangla around 12:00 to 1:00 pm, visiting in the Ravangla Buddhist monastery and then take a lunch break

• Enjoying night views of Ravangla 


Day 4:


• In the early morning, people may ride on the Government bus for going to Siliguri or NJP

• If travellers hire a private car, they may visit the Namchi ongoing towards the NJP or Siliguri

 On the way, people may get pleasure due to Pine Forest, Teesta River, and Kanchenjunga hill station

• In the evening time, Passengers can get ready to board the express train.


Day 5


• People can be ready to return back home in the daytime


Beautiful floras:

This type of wild flowering plant is available beside the hill roads of Pelling. Nowadays, many flower lovers are involved in gardening with this native flowering plant.

Beautiful place near Pelling: 

The visitors to Pelling town can see the beautiful sightseen and enjoy other tourist spots. The beautiful places surrounding Pelling are Swami Padma-Sova Monastery, Sing-shore Bridge, Wishing Lake, Kanchenjunga waterfalls, and Rimbi River including Rimbi orange garden

In the early morning, during the sunrise, the Kanchenjunga Hill Mountain seems to be a Sleeping Buddha from Pelling town. Therefore, in the hill region, the sky becomes covered by clouds around 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

This nice architectural Monastery is located at a high altitude from the Pelling. The visitors may have to collect the ticket and usually, it opens up to 4:00 pm.

There, shoes are not also allowed on the glass bridge. However, this glass bridge is also known as India's first skywalk glass bridge. The visitors may be able to notice a nice view from this glass bridge. In such cases, people must be more concerned while taking photos and ignore reclining on the glass walls. Visitors may pay around  150/- per head for booking Pelling Skywalk tickets before entering the gate.

Different types of fish are found in this lake. Some people pray to God near this wishing lake. Some travellers also climb the nearby hill to get a nice view from the watch tower at the top position.

This Sing Shore Bridge is the second highest-hanging bridge in Asia.

This monastery is situated at the Ravangla. It is generally closed by 4:00 pm. 

Recommendation for travellers:

The travellers have to keep their own identification proof such as Aadhar Card during crossing the Sikkim Border. The visitors may carry dry foods and water, and also some common necessary medicines with them because there is no availability of retail shops for grocery items and medicines. During the post-pandemic situation, border security was checking Musk, Aadhar Card, and proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Apart from this, it could be said that people should not carry any kind of suspicious things. However, during peak season, people can book the hotel's room in the previous months.
